Wood and Leather Round Hat Box

*SOLD* This decorative hat box is sturdy and beautiful! It has a wonderful feminine steampunk vibe. It features a maroon velveteen lining and is has lovely wood framing around the top and bottom and the lid. I believe the whole box is built of a very thin wood, though it is covered on the inside by the lining, and is also covered on the outside by a faux snakeskin-textured covering that is printed with flowers, leaves, and butterflies. The handle is leather and is in great condition, attached very sturdily with hardware. The outer strap is also leather, and has a false buckle on the front. The actual closure is a snap. The snap works, but I'm not sure it would stay shut if the box were full and you were carrying it by the handle.

This box is shaped like a hat box, but it would have to be a pretty small hat! It measures about 7 inches high and just over 9 inches in diameter. It would be great to store things in or as a decoration. The wood piece on the bottom has a crack in the wood that doesn't seem to affect the integrity of the bottom. Please look at the photos for more information on the condition. This is a used/vintage item and has flaws, but overall is in good shape. All of the nails that hold the wood in place are solid. The hinge is not super heavy duty but is strong enough to support the weight of the lid when the box is open.

I have left it a little grubby as I found it in case the worn patina is what you want, but I bet the watermarks on the wood on top would shine up nicely. This is such a cool and unique box!
